what is this wire?

ever since i got my car, which has a 1969 motor in it, ive noticed this wire was never connected to anything, but it has a current because it sparked when i touched it... what is it? it comes right off the positive cable...

Are you saying it comes off the battery cable? Look down by the radiator on the right side. There should be a junction box affair there that the cable would have gone too. Does your car still have the computer in it?

yes, it comes out from the positive cable. i see the box, but theres no commectors that it would plug into. yes it still has the computer in. as you can tell i SUCK at electronics and i dread them, when i get a better understanding of it, ill buy a kit from painless.

yea it does... the wire doesnt have a circular end to it, its more like a plug in.

Okay,
I transferred that picture to my computer and re-sized the picture for a better view of it. Yes, it goes to that junction box I mentioned. Someone may have removed the connector it plugged into. It looks like it connected to a spade terminal on the junction block. There should be several other wires going to it.

On mine, the small black wire that the orange wire shares the fusible link with goes to my alternator. To see the black wire you will have to enlarge the picture. On his car, it seems to be stuck down in the frame.
