Turn signal problem

Hello,

I am having a problem with my turn signals. What happens is when I attempt to signal a turn (right or left), the dash light and outside lights stay on, they don't blink. Hazards work fine, and all bulbs are working.

I've checked a bunch of other posts and have basically determined at this point the turn signal switch assembly in the steering column is bad. I don't have the time nor tools to fix this myself right now, so I'm just going to bring it to the shop.

However, in the process of narrowing down the problem, I've noticed that apparently my '87 IROC-Z/28 does not have the turn signal flasher relay installed (it's not even there, just missing)! This surprised me, as the turn signals were flashing fine before, then all of a sudden they just quit flashing.

Also, my wiper delay isn't working. I'm thinking the problem is the wiper delay switch which is also in the steering column, as both the high and low wiper settings work fine.

So I figure I'll just go to the shop and kill two birds with one stone as both these problems seem to be in the steering column.

Any ideas on the lack of a turn signal flasher relay, though? Is this normal for my model?

Thanks,
Tristan
