What are these electric connectors??? *PICS*
Hey guys, I am still in the process of cleaning and finding all the weird things my previous owners have done to my car (1992 RS 305 TBI). I had the dash apart, stereo unit out, and I found all these connectors that don't seem to go to anything. Look at the pics and see if you can tell me what these are and where they go!
The following pic shows a connector that is just sitting there not hooked to anything:

This next pic is of two more connectors just sitting there near the tranny shifter and they don't appear to go to anything:

This last pic is of my Delco Loc II head unit...I only have three connections to this unit...are there supposed to be more??
Long connector in first pic is probably for prndl switch.
Extra connectors on radio are probably steering wheel controls, and external amplifier.
Not sure about second connector in first pic. Looks like it may have been added by a previous owner.

1st; Look at the underside of the dash and you should see a little tiny lamp. I believe that connector goes to that worthless piece.
2nd; Looks like your car was an auto in it's first life. That connector in the upper left of the picture goes to the gear selector switch on an automatic shifter. It has 6 pins, 2 are for reverse lights, 2 are for park/neutral switch for ecm, and 2 are for the starter to keep from cranking when in gear. The connector on the right looks like the light bulb socket that 1/4 turns into the shifter plate (again automatic trans).
3rd; What oneblinky suggested.

Thanks, but I'm pretty positive this car was a manual from the start. Everything with the VIN matches up and the car only has 70K original miles. I'm thinking they might have to do with an aftermarket stereo system maybe...but I'm pretty sure this was never an auto car.

Better pictures might help a little.... with teh plug in full view (put the shifter in reverse).
..and also look for cut metal around the shifter. Mainly the bracket that would have been there for the autoshifter.

Even if it was stick from the factory, it would still have the plug for the PRNDL switch (P/N switch). Usually they just wrap the plug back on the harness and tape it. Every harness I've disassembled has been this way. Maybe a previous owner was curious about it and dug it out.
#1: definately light for auto shifter panel
#2: Definately PRNDL switch plug
I'd just tape them up to prevent a short circuit, then wrap them back on the harness to prevent chafing.

My 89 is a factory manual car that didn't have either of these, and I took ALL of the interior and wiring out of it for the resto. I bought it new and it had none of these A/T connections.
I've had the wiring out of an 87 IROC, 89 IROC, 85 Z28, 91 formula, 86 Z28, 92 RS, and a 92 WS6, and all of them were accomidating to both stick and auto. Not to mention the countless ones I've picked thru in the boneyards. It was just cheaper for GM to make one harness instead of two types I guess. You sure it wasn't tucked away in tape or loom Murco?

As I suspected
.
I too have to say that I've never seen the connectors on any manual cars and know for a fact that GM wouldn't have put the connectors there because 2 of the 6 wires are live! They don't just wrap up live wires, only unused wires.
If you want to see if your car was an auto just run the RPO codes and see for yourself.
Keep in mind that a previous owner might have had the wiring harness replaced! That too could be a possibility.

i have both those connectors by my shifter. i couldn't figure out what the heck they were, but didn't remember pulling anything out of them when i took the console out so i figured they were useless. and i'm positive mine was stock from the factory with the 5 speed because i have the build sheet, window sticker, and even the book they show you at the dealership with the cars and their options the salesman show the customers. this book has 5 speed clearly circled.

Then do me a favor, checy for 12v from the connector that has 6 pins. If it doesn't then they just left it in your harness but didn't connect the other ends to hot. That too could be a possibility. I guess the previous owners of the stick cars I've seen apart must have cut the plugs off.
