Windshield washer problems

Yes i have searched

I replaced my steering column not to long ago and it was from a frie bird into my camaro, well i found out that a few wires had to be switched around for my wipers to work....DONE it works fine, except my washers dont work, the whole pupm thingy i replaced, so that should be fine (worked with other column) but when i press the spray button al pump goes *Click Click* and nothing happens. YES there is fluid and yes the hoses are hooked up right becasue it all worked fine with the other cloumn.. so im just wondering if i need to switch a few wires?

thanx

If it clicks the wiring is usually OK on GM bellows pumps. Normally the check valves or O rings go causing this. Sounds like the system is getting air into it somehow, also did you give it enough time to prime itself.

heres the thing though, you know when you press the spray your wipers automatically go on? mine dont. And the pump and everything worked perfect then i replaced the column and now it doesnt. there must be a way to get them working cause lots of people have had the wiring issue for the wipers...but i havent seen any for the washers.

thanx anyways.....maybe ol trickster knows

Do you have the pulse or standard wipers on your car? I have the schematics for the 1983 camaro from the service manual.

okay, this should help you out some. I am including two schematics here, the first one is for your 83 camaro and the second one is for the 89. There is a connector listed in both of them, it is the connector on the right hand side of the steering column under the dash towards the bottom. Also note in the second schematic that the washer motor is a separate item from the wiper motor. It is located in the washer fluid bottle.
