Maf Help!

Honestly, I'm too stressed at the prospect that I might have destroyed a $300 part to search.

One of the (filament?) wires came loose

I'm getting a check engine light now

CAN IT BE REPAIRED? HOW? Solder? What? I'm freaking out

My car starts without it, but can I drive it? I can't afford a new MAF!

Take a twelve pack and call the parts store tomorrow and you can get a new one for less than $200.00. BTW, get one that has a limited lifetime warranty and not one of those 90 day wonders that are remanufactured to start with.

Now you know what not to do with your Maf. Look for a Wells Maf for about $160 shipped. Disconnect the Maf and you will be able to drive the car. The SES light will be on but no harm, the ECM will be making the Maf Adjustments.

The car will idle erratically and have poor accelaration. After driving it for a while the block learn will compensate to some degree but it will still run like crap. Why not try a boneyard, you can get one for under $50 usually and unless it's dropped chances are it will be fine. The factory units are pretty reliable and most times outlast the car.

If the engine runs better with the MAF conneted, it may not be "dead".

I'm getting a check engine light. There's is no doubt it's the cause.

I'll see if it's a 33 or 34 this afternoon.
