battery is being drained

i have an 83 crossfire, and in about 2 days the battery will be dead, gone, nothing left in it at all. i then hooked up a meter to the battery and found out it's taking 2.53 or so amps, it's not the lights, not the fuses, and not the air conditioning compressor. i can't find what it is. anyone have any ideas on what could be drawing the current?

Start pulling fuses one at a time and checking the amperage draw. Once you find a fuse where the drain decreases, start checking the systems associated with that fuse. BTW, the ECM can also create a battery drain in some cases.

like i said, it's not the fuses, i already pulled them one by one, and none made a huge difference, like .0006 amp change. and can the ECM really take that many amps? the guy i bought it from said he put two racing chips in it that make it spit more gas in there, maybe that's it. but still, the ECM shouldn't be taking a whole lot right?

ok, a few things, the ECM should shut off when the car is off, and same with the computer. and i just fixed the brake lights so that's not it. what else could it be?

See, the KEY word here is "SHOULD", that doesn't neccessarally mean that it does. I am not saying that this is your problem, just that it is a possiblitiy. When you do your checks with pulling the fuses, do you have the car door shut and the underhood light removed? Have you checked all the grounds every where including the ones to the lights and horn? BTW, the ECM is the computer.

meh, the ECM is kinda different from the actual car computer. ECM is for the engine where the computer is for everything, but yeah, basically same thing. and the check with the fuses, yes we took all the light bulbs out, checked how much current was being drawn from them, and so forth. like i said, it's not the...
-fuses
-lights
-brake lights
-compressor

do you have an amp or anything else hooked up to your battery...i.e. aftermarket foglights, fan wiring, etc....

no, i have no after market products at the moment. it's all stock, and all of it should turn off when i turn the car off, except the radio and clock, but those shouldn't even take a forth of an amp. and i just got a horn in it, cause the steering wheel had been robbed of that, but now it's in, so i have no clue what it is.

You do know that the computer has a single-wire power connection plug near the battery?
More to the point, I think that you may need to try the alternator (both the heavy wire, and the nylon connector). Alternators are in-circuit all the time, and most are electronically switched on/off by supplying current to the regulator, not to the windings. This means that the regulator needs to be working in working order.
Had this issue with two cars in the past. Neither one used Delco electronics.
