Do you know if your car had the Daylight Running Lights (DRL) on it. Vaders schematic will help you if you just have the regular lights. If you have the DRL you will need a different schematic.

that diagram is more helpful than the one in my chilton, thanks.

the car does not have DRLs.

the diagram shows 7 wires and my car has 7 wires in that place.
but the switch itself has tabs for 8 wires.

which means i cant be sure which one is the extra tab just from the diagram.

There will be letters on the connector and numbers on the switch itself. Here is how they will match up with each other.

Pin "A" (1) = red
Pin "B" (no number) = white
Pin "C" (2) =dark green
Pin "E" (4) = brown
Pin "F" (5) = orange
Pin "J" (6) =yellow
Pin "H" (X) = black

Please note that there is no number for pin "B" on the switch and that there is no number "3" on the switch. There is also not a pin "D" with a wire to it on the connector.
