starter removal
I just removed my starter on 1986 5.o carb motor, now nothing electrical works. No fuses are blown, could it be a fusible link blown? I did not disconnect the ground wire when I pulled the starter, and there was A SPARK. Which link would it be, how do I know ?

Easy mistake...I never thought you could get shocked from 12VDC power until I did the same thing.
Well...I've never messed with the caqrbed thirdgens, but the starting circuit should eb pretty close to every other thirdgen. The battery + should feed to a junction block somewhere close to the battery. You probably burnt either a fusible link or the wire itself between the battery & this junction block. Try to find the block and, with the key in RUN, measure with a multimeter between the battery - and this junction. If you've got nothing, run a temporary jumper (preferably 10 gauge wire) between the battery + and the junction block but do not attempt to start the car just yet. Get behind the wheel & see if any electrical items work. If so, you just isolated the problematic circuit and now you have to track exactly where it is. If nothing works, then get a set of schematics for your car and move on down the line to the next point in which you can inject power to test.

I tried the fusiblelink and have power on both sides, still no fuses burnt, the starter is out of the car, does that make a difference ?
Am I grounded enough ? Need a wiring diagram from battery to
fuse box,, my book does not show that part. Possitive cable has wire to the alternator, black with red stripe and a pink or prange to the fusible link, hot on both sides. No power to the fuse box ? Tested both circuit breakers, and are good. Want to go to carb motor without computer.....

THis *may* be one of those vehicles that the battery + runs directly to the starter and then from there to the rest of the car. I'm used to seeing the battery + branch off to the starter and to the junction block, but some cars go to the starter only and then from there (through a separate wire that's only connected when the starter's installed) to the rest of the system. If there were more than one wire connected to the starter, try bridging those to see if you regain power to the rest of the system.
