Stock Alternator

Last year I upgraded my alternator from the stock unit to a powermaster 140amp alternator. My old alternator is fine and all, I just wanted more amperage to power the excessive draw from my stereo setup. Here is the deal. My brother drives a 1997 cavalier and his alternator crapped out on him. He wants to buy my old alternator off of me to put in his car. I was wondering if an alt from a 305 would fit on a 4cyl 2.2. I don't think it will however I figure I would ask before I told him no it won't work without knowing for sure.

If you don't mind me asking what model alternator did you buy for your transam. I have an 82 transam with a 305 and bought a powermaster 47294 model but it is too small for my brackets and I'm not quite sure what to do about it.
Did you run into a similar problem?

Thanks and sorry for asking something somewhat unrelated to your post.
