Do you have headers by chance? If so sounds like heat soak to the starter. A heat sheild over the starter usually solve this problem.

Summit and Jegs should have them for you. I think Mr Gasket even makes them. This is a common problem with long tube headers on alot of cars.

Yeah, Mr. Gasket makes an aluminum starter heat shield. You still might find that you need to replace your starter though. But the shield will help protect your new one.
You can also order it directly from Mr. Gasket.

Cruzin Kaz was right about the heat soak. My '89 RS (w/out headers) did the same as well as my '76 Nova (w/headers) . A cure-all I've used on my Nova is mounting a remote starter relay. You can read about it at Nova Resource, they explain it pretty well. It's worked like a champ for me the past 3 years. Here's the link:

I would only go to this if a heat shield fails to solve the problem (always start with the cheaper fixes!).

Having the same issue with my 91 RS. In high school it was a frayed wire to the starter and not carrying enough voltage, then a few years later it was the alarm's starter kill that was interfering, now with the new headers I'm getting heat soak...
The remote solenoid looks good, but it also looks like more work than I want to do if something cheaper and easier works. Question though, are heat shields a "one-size-fits-all" sort of thing or am I going to need to search around for something with a more specific design?
Sorry, late post...
