Broke the foglight lens changing bulbs!

Bull****! I broke the lens changing my foglights. Now I have to go down to a junkyard and find one. How much might it cost? How does the lens stay in there snug? By those little prongs? This is on a '91 Firebird.

The lens is held in place by two screws on the bottom of the fog lamp assembly.

This lens some how popped out when I unscrewed those little brackets that hold the assembly in place on the side. Does that mean the screws were never there?

Do you see any screw holes in the bottom of the lens?

No not at all, its just a peice of glass. Maybe your thinking of a different year car, this is a 91 with the banshee nose. I saw 4 prongs on the foglight assembly and I figured that what holds it in but their pretty strong and dont like to bend.

Ok, this is prolly what happened. You unscrewed the foglight to replace the bulb and after those brackets were off and you had ahold of the assembly, the glass part popped off and broke on the ground right? The lens itself is supposed to be "glued" in some fashing to the housing however, over the years this glue turns to garbage. It happened to mine as well and I got some black rtv/glue stuff for this type of situation to keep the inside sealed from water as well as glued together. Anyway, that won't help you now, but you might wanna do it on the unbroken lens. Now, as for the light assembly. It shouldn't cost much. 5-10 dollars.

I will say they used this same foglight on many vehicles. It was on my friends Chevy S-10 and a Pontiac Grand Am? or Grand Prix? or something. I'd prefer not to say how I know(don't ask, lol), but they are all interchangeable. Maybe look it up somewhere and find the exact models so you have a very wide range to choose from. It might be easier finding it on a Grand(whatever) than a Firebird.

One of my foglights does not work, can you replace the bulb inside or do I have to buy a whole new light (if its sealed)......what bulb would I need?

Yeah exactly what happened, thanks for the info. I guess I have to glue it in.

Icepack, you could just change the bulb, not the assembly. Its Sylvania number "H3" I got the H3 Silverstars, they look sweet.

Now, just to clarify, when I said I glued it on, I meant I glued the glass lens around the edges where you find the dried up old sealer/glue and glued it back to the housing, the part with the reflector surface inside. (cleaning off the old sealer first of course) I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes and was good to go. Making sure here you or anyone else doesn't misread anything I said and glue the brackets on, or glue the assembly to it's mounting spot or even the front bumper. lol Also, once it's reglued and those brackets go on, it should not be going anywhere for a VERY long time.So no need to worry bout it popping out on the road or needing extra support.

I had NO clue on those silverstars. I replaced mine with standard bulbs. I did replace my regular lights with silverstars though. I'll have to check into those for the foglights. Thanks for the heads up on that one.
