black steering column wire

black steering column wire
What is the black wire that comes off of the top of the steering column. Its only about 5 inches in lenth and the plug is a male end, kinda shaped like a "J". Its a 85 IROC with cruise and its an automatic. I am redoing the whole car and am putting the column back in and cannot find where this wire goes. The black wire is flat, kinda like a phone line. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the one for the cruise control switches in the stalk.
