Power Antenna

Ok my 89 Iroc has the factory power antenna in it. Well the thing is stuck in the up postion and when you shut the car off you can hear the motor trying to pull the antenna back down. Guess its stripped or burned up. Anyways I wanta replace the thing with a new one.

I called the dealership yesterday and they say a new one is a $189.00. I dont want one of those cheap aftermarket things that crap out after a month. Is there a way to get a new one cheaper than through the dealership? Some kinda parts place for 3rd gen Camaros?

I have a brand new power antenna for a 93-02 Trans Am, but I pulled the fender liner out of the Iroc yesterday and it doesnt look like it will work.

Any ideas or help would be great guys.

get the part number and check out gmpartsdirect.com. They charge shipping but most of the time they are cheaper for gm parts.

The full part number is 88891017. The price shipped fom www.gmpartsdirect.com is about $120. An example picture is below.

The cable within the mast of your antenna probably broke. I am in-process of a similar repair. I plan on replacing just the cable. I believe the $20 kit you mentioned is the 22038195 cable kit.

Would an aftermarket one hurt? Autozone has a few in the $20-$30 price range for an entire power antenna kit. You could steal the connectors off the old one.

$100+ for an antenna seems very overpriced

Re: Power Antenna

I gave the guys at AntennaMastsRus a call 1-920-686-0644 and they set me up with a replacement part-last metal section and the plastic cord, one piece-my motor works. This fits the AC Delco OEM motor $23.50. They called it MSTGM6 cable
My problem is that the antenna is stuck up and I can't get it down to get it out. The top section is part of the replacement cord so I can't cut it at the bottom 2 sections
Any ideas???
