wired without fusable links ???

does anyone have their car wired without fusable links??? if so, how did wire it???

First off, why would you want to wire a vehicle without fusible links? They are a safety fearture designed to keep your car from burning to the ground in case of a massive short circuit. Having said that, you could wire a vehicle using fuses and fuse holders rated at the same capacity as fusible links. If your wiring is in decent shape, I'd recommend using it the way the engineers designed it.

I think they are a bad, cheap factory idea. All they are is a one-time fuse. Simply look at the wiring diagrams to find the amp rating of the link and solder in a blade type fuse holder in their place. That way, you can just replace the fuse if there is another problem.

Although the fusible links on my cars haven't been a problem, I will be replacing them with fuses when the time comes.

yeah, i may eliminate them also, i have a ron francis catalog and he has a good article in there about why he doesnt use them on his wiring harnesses. just fuses, relays, etc ... Ron Francis Wiring fyi
