Tach reads different than scan tool???
My tach reads different than my scan tool. When checking my 305's engine's vital signs and her temperature this week I noticed the tack on scan tool reads 6 to 700rpm but tach in car reads 1000, what gives???? What would cause this? I did a search and only thing I came up with is that its the nature of the beast with the camaro gages. Can someone tell me how to check it or a schematic of it and I'll try to figure it out. Seems to me tach is bad but figured I'd better ask someone first before I do a "tacharectomy" on it.

Keep looking. I know there was a link in one of the older 90-92 tech fix threads to a good wright up for a fix of the older techs, with pics and all.

Care to link...my tach jumps like crazy until you keep the RPMs steady for a couple seconds. Don't know if its the tach or some sort or interference with my MSD wiring...

Not unless you can find Two more Pulses per Engine revolution, to send to the V8 Tachometer (in order for it to read correctly).
