starter wont turn over

starter wont turn over

I just put a motor in an '86 z28 camaro. it had no motor when i got the car. it had no key so i had to change the key cyclinder . i have got the motor in now and trying start it and the start wont kick in just clicks. i can jump the start and it will turn over . the lights work and the turn signals work with the key on windshileld wipers work too. So anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Low charge in your battery or maybe a bad starter solenoid. Did you install a new battery and starter? If the battery is fully charged, I would have the starter tested at your local auto parts store.

Oops, I just re-read your post and noticed your lights and wipers work. That may narrow it down to the solenoid, but you still might want to check both.

Are the wires in the correct spots to the starter? I would also get the starter checked.
