Uh-Oh. Wire Touched that Shouldn't

Alright here's my problem. We rebuilt my carburetor (E4ME computer controlled) on my 83 Firebird w/a 305 4bbl. As we were adjusting it we had to use the tach wire coming off the distributor, and it shook with the car, fell and grounded out. It killed the car and we removed it from its ground-out then started the car. Does anyone know if that would mess something up, or should I not worry about it. I have been having strange electrical issues lately, but I do not know if that is coincidence or if that wire grounding out would have caused any problems.
If anyone could help it would be appreciated.

If it didn't blow a fuse or burn a fusible link, there's probably nothing to worry about.

That wire is constantly grounded by the points in the distributor - the grounding sends a spark from the coil to the spark plugs.
So no worries, this did not cause any damage, you are perfectly fine.

Hope this helps.

The points. On the distributor cam. Carbed engines still used points and centrifugal weights back then. Seems like ages ago.

Not in 83 they didn't. Points went out of fashion in 1975.

The carbed 1988 460 bigblock I have at home still has points and weights. It's a truck engine, though.

Also not the original distributor, then.
