91 firebird factory alarm will not shut off

Hello,

First time poster... long time reader....

I have a pain in ht ebutt problem wiht my 91 firebird v6....
It all started this summer when I lost the vats key and was left with just the master/valet key what ever you wanna call it.

I did not know the resistor value for my key so I by passed the ignition system and spliced in different resistors until I found one that worked.... #10 if I recall correctly.

I have used the master key as my main key with no problems until now... I left my car sit with the lights on over the weekend and when I tried to jump it the alarm engaged and will not shut off... I disconnected the siren but the lights still flash each time I open the doors and remain flashing when I turn the car off.

I tried disconnecting the battery but the alarm immediately engages when I reconnect it. Is there any way around this problem other then getting a new vats key with the resistor chip in it and reconnecting the ignition to the vats?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

VATS has nothing to do with any lights or sirens. THe vats system just keeps the car from cranking for a few minutes. That's it.
