Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

For a TBI ECM, you'd need the vss buffer.
For a TPI ECM, you can wire the VSS directly in.

Hope this helps.

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

Thanks for the answer. Fast forum this.

Damn, i hoped that i could get away with only the vss.
Does anyone know the gm partnumber for the vss used for tbi engines? Or where there several used?
And what buffer should i use. My TBI comes from a 454ss -90.

Hoping for more answers

The VSS is the same regardless of engine intake type or ECM.
Only the path of the wires changes for the TBI cars, it needs the VSS buffer.
I'm sure you can find the buffer box at any junkyard. I think a friend of mine has one, I'll ask.

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

Thanks again.
Well the thing is that i live in Sweden. Junkyards here only have volvo and saab parts, a lot of them....

That is the main reason i want the GM number.

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

I see, I didn't know. Mostly because your profile is completely empty.
I don't have my part #'s here but if you wait 'till tomorrow, I'll post them for you. If I forget, feel free to remind me (my memory isn't what it used to be ).
What rear end gearing do you have on the car? What tire size?

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

I have now edited my profile somewhat.

My rear end gearing is 3.08, and tiresize is 265/50 15.
The tranny is th2004r, if that info is needed.
If you could help me i would be VERY grateful.

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

Anything for my fellow Europeans.

But I am afraid that I won't be able to help. I have part #'s only for the common 700r4 and T5 transmissions, nothing for a th200.
However, I can recommend to post a question about the th200 VSS sensor in the Transmissions forum, you WILL get an answer there, I'm sure.
I'll look around and if I find something, I'll definitely let you know.

Sorry I can't help more right now.

Re: Do i need a vss buffer?

Isn`t the sensor the same for the 200 and the 700 gearbox. If i remember right i have seen a sensor that is threaded to the speedometerwire outlet on the gearbox? That sensor would be the same for the 200 and 700??

That, my friend, I don't know.
I hope somebody answers your thread in the Transmission forum.
