85 2.8 alterntor upgrade ?????'s

Has anyone upgraded the alternetor in an 85 2.8l camaro, can i use the cs144 alt. on this car and what all would I need to change or add.

85 should use the SI type alternator I think but either way get a CS130 and either convert or upgrade the one you have. I used my old one from my 92 V8 camaro and changed out the case so it would work with the 2.8 brackets, so I went from a 70amp to a 105amp alternator for free.

the CS-144 alternator WILL work with minormods, its a 20 minute job at most

it would be easier to take it to a alternator shop..let them beef it up and keep your same caseing..thats what i did..went from 80 to 160 amp and spent about 50 bucks to do it..took them about 1.5 hrs

I wasn't sure because i haven't been able to find anyone on here that has a 2.8 v6 that has done it, i did a search and didn't come up with anything, what kind of mods need to be done?

all you need to do is remove the old pulley from it, put the pully from your current alternator on it, and then take the 4 houseing bolts out and WITHOUT separating the housing, turn it so your plug is exposed when it is in the car, make sure u have the correct plug for the 144, and wire it up the same as the original one is,
