Re: brake lights
There is a plunger switch against your brake peddle. There should always be power going into it and the other wire hot when you push the peddle in. You'll want a test light probe. Got mine at the dollar store.
Check all your fuses.

Re: brake lights
The brake pedal switch you're looking for has an orange wire and a light blue wire. The orange wire supplies 12V from the fuse and the switch sends it to the brake lights through the light blue wire when the pedal is depressed.
With a test light, it should be pretty easy to find out whether the switch is operational or not.

Hope this helps.

Re: brake lights
Yup, the orange and blue wires are for the brake switch.
If you don't have any power to the orange wire, check the STOP/HAZ fuse. Even if it's good, it might be not seated 100% right, causing bad contact.
Do your hazards work?

Re: brake lights
Thanks for the help lou, for some reason when i pulled the hazards the fuse would blow, i put a 10amp fuse there (was a 5 amp) and it seems to be working now, brakes and hazards... not sure why there connected, dont they have seperate fuses ? also is it ok that i used a 10amp fuse instead of 5 ?

Re: brake lights
No wonder the fuse blew, somebody put a tiny fuse in there. That circuit feeds the stop lamps (60W) and hazards (80W) so the fuse rating is 20A. Put in the right fuse size and you should have no problems now.
