86 IROC Z distributer

Hi everyone. hopefully someone who reads this can help me out. I got a 1986 IROC Z 305 5.0 ltr engine. My wiring harness for the distributer has a 4-pin connector that obviously connects into the distributers wiring. My question is,,,,,what kind of or what model of HEI distributer do I need? I know back in the day Delco-Remy made the distributer, but I dont have one in my camaro so I cant cross reference it with a new one. Does anyone one own a 86 IROC Z 5.0 305? Does this 86 IROC have a Advance vacuum HEI, or is it just a regular 4-pin HEI. I had my camaro stolen just after i bought the car so I know that I recovered it, Its missing the distributer. Can any body help me out with the specs of the distributer that I need? Anything helps. Thanks.

Re: 86 IROC Z distributer

compared to the new HEI, does the old distributor need all this upper section of the shaft. The pieces of metal on on top of the shaft that look sort of like a ying yang. They fit inside the under section of the rotor. Are they really neccesary?

Re: 86 IROC Z distributer

You have a hei for a carb vacuum advance and mechanical advance springs. Don't mix and match the 2. The large cap hei 4 wire was used on ccc and tpi 85-86 and 85-91 vettes
