Speedometer issues....
Ok im not sure if this is the right section so mods move it if incorrect please..... I have an 86 Camaro IROC bone stock.... has the stock 16 inch wheels with the proper tire size, however my speedo is wayy off.... It will read 55 when im actually going 45 and so on... Me being a cop, a ticket isnt really the issue... The issue is that I am **** about everything working properly... Do I just need to change out the speedo in the cluster or is there another issue at hand?... Thanks a ton for any help!!

What exactly makes you an exemption to the law? I am a little lost... I don't mean to come off as offensive but that's just not the way you should think, you are no different then everyone else, hence a Democracy, all people are created equal.

Re: Speedometer issues....
all i am saying is that is very unlikely to recieve a citation due to the fact that the car never leaves my patrol area, hence unlikely to get a ticket from one of my own...

In other words, be exempt from everyone else because you are a Police Officer in your "area"....

Re: Speedometer issues....
When did this happen? Did you buy it like that or did it just start one day?If it just happened then what were you doing when it occured? I think the best place to start is a new speed sensor mechanism that is attached to the transmission with a big cable plugged into it.

WARNING: This may or may not be the right drive gear but Summit does say it is for a 1986 Camaro. I would research more on that.
The one on your car, which is bone stock, is mechanical unlike the 90+ models that have a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). If it is not that the next step would be the actual speedometer, unless the drive gear on the speedometer gear housing is stripped/broken.
