Wiring a heated oxygen sensor

So I installed a heated oxygen sensor on my car in an attempt to fix the running like crap problem I have (it didnt help). Anyway, I ran my 12v of power straight from the battery. Came out today, and the battery was dead. In retrospect, this makes sense since I guess the sensor was constantly drawing from the battery (correct?)

Anyway, is there somewhere under the hood I can draw 12v from? Where did everyone wire theres to? Thanks.

Re: Wiring a heated oxygen sensor

I'm asking if theres anywhere under the hood I could wire it into. I already have the wires ran under there, so I'd rather not have to go all the way back to the fuel pump (I did search and read through that thread and many others... Didn't really find a specific answer.)

Find a 12v switched wire, the emissions common from the C100 is a good one for that. Its fused

C100 is the bulkhead near your booster. Simplify your hunt, its the EGR/A.I.R. pnk/blk wire

Re: Wiring a heated oxygen sensor

the fuel pump relay is under the hood a few feet from the o2 sensor. one of the 3 relays by the brake booster on the firewall where all the wires go inside.

Blown emissions fuse. You can draw 12v switched from any source you like though, this one is easy to find and fused FOR it

Re: Wiring a heated oxygen sensor

But ya do realize it doens't need power all the time, it only needs 12v on start up when the car is cold so its heats up quicker. once up to engine temp, it doens't need heated anymore.

Will last 10x longer if you don't feed it 12v all the time.

It needs 12v switched (IGN)

It will NOT last 10x longer if its not continuously heated. OEM HO2s are run with 12v IGN and can last a decade
