Lights: They only work sometimes
Lights: They only work sometimes
I have an 85 Trans am with the 305 Carburetor.
Last year I was driving around for about 3 months before one day my lighting all went crazy.
The gauges in the car do not light up like they used to. Neither do the back lights when they are supposed to be. As in...I turn the **** to turn on the lights at night and they do not work. Yet, if you press the brake the back lights do light up.
Also, when the switch is turned, the front lights still work. Just the gauges and the back lights.
I dont have as much experience in wiring as other parts of the car so any help would be appreciated.
I started to pull relays and fuses to see if that was it, but like I said, wiring and electrical is not really my speciality.

When you use the term “front lights” do you mean headlights, or the so-called parking lights.

Check your 'tail' fuse, yellow 20 amp... also check your dash fuse, 'inst lp'(very low amp, 5, I think). The dash lights run through the taillight circuit. The brake lights have their own fuse, not affected by the taillights.
