Replacing Fuselinks (Need Help!)

Hi!

Ive asked this before but never gotten any straight answer.
So im trying with pictures now and hopefully someone can answer this :-)

Look at this picture, (in the red marked zone) you see 2 fuseiblelinks right?
This are the 2 main power cables (+) to fusebox inside and starterengage / purple

Where can I buy new fuelinks (those in the picture) ? Cause I think they are getting bad soon.. and its never an bad idea to have them new cause they are over 20years old, and its a very hot spot for them to be, always alot of heat coming from the engine down there (and exhaust) so can I find them on RockAuto or some place ?
I live in sweden so the company that sells them need to ship outside US.

There isnt ANY store in Sweden that sells these Fuselinks so I need to order them from America :-)

so questions are:

1. Where can I order (online) from:
2. Is it possible to replace an fuselink with regular fuses?

Also there is 1 fusieble link connected on the (+) cable that goes from alternator to battery (see picture below) goes to fans and MPFI right?:

Can I replace that with a new one to ? (where to buy?!) or is t possible to intall an AGU fuse or something instead ? Ive changed out the main power cables (from starter-> batt, engblock->battery , alternator/generator -> battery +) so I want new and fresh fueslinks to cause these b*stards can cause some serious problems if they are bad... or getting bad...

another picture with a diagram showing the fuselinks in the diagram: http://theking.joakimweb.se/z28/rep/fuselinks.jpg

Thanks for your time

EDIT: check this diagram:

There are 3 FUSELINKS in that diagram and I want to replace them all with new 100% fully working ones, cause I think mine isnt 100% when they are getting hot.
So where to buy, and how to know what size etc to install ?

And what size fuses instead of fuselinks (in those 3 places ?) cant find any info about anywhere.

and it need to be larger fuses (AGU) im guessing for best performance.

Re: Use The Fuse

Just use 12 gauge fuse link wire and put the terminals on it.

In the picture he circled, he would need 16 AWG.

And what size fuses instead of fuselinks
Use 30 amp fuses.

Re: Use The Fuse

So I need 2pcs 16 AWG (for the cables from starter terminal to fuseblock) and 1pcs 12 awg fuselink from battery to fans and injectors then?

so its called
16 AWG Fuselink
12 AWG Fuselink

or what ? where can I buy them ?

Thanks for answers

Re: Replacing Fuselinks (Need Help!)

You can buy fusible links in the help section of any auto parts store. Or, you can get a "roll" of fusible link wire that does the same thing but you get more of it. I am pretty sure I got mine at Napa. Then, just solder them on like a normal junction and use heatshrink to finish it up.

That sounds basically correct.

Links need to be a smaller gage than the wire it’s protecting.

You can buy them at Amazon.com they ship to Sweden.

Re: Use The Fuse

I replaced the fusible links at the starter with 25amp fuses. I also moved them up to the battery. They seem to be working fine.

Re: Use The Fuse

Would these ones work from hotrodwires ?

Fusible Link 12 AWG - 12 AWG OEM fuse link with soldered eye terminal. This fusible link is used to protect the complete electrical system when installed at the wiring harness power source.

This 12 AWG from battery + to fans and injectors.

and the smallwe AWG16 to the ons from starter and fusepanel (the circeled ones in the picture at top)

But maybe it would be better with regularfuses (AGU) to the ones from starter and to the fusepanel (cause they arent seeing the same AMP drawage as the one to the fans. its maybe better to have only a fuselink to the FANs/injectors and regular AGU (largeones) on the other 2 smaller ones..

Any input on that thought ? :-)

Both work of course, however I prefer fuses due to the fact it’s much faster to replace.

Re: Use The Fuse

Oki, I would prefer fuses to, but I dont want to put in a to small fuse or to large fuse.
I dont wanna burn something up, I want the correct values of the fuses, Would be best to have 3 fuses intalled in a goldplated fuseholder (looks awesome) and I dont wanna burn fuses after fuses when the fans turns on. and I dont want to risk having a to large fuse and blowing the injectors etc.

the 2 small fuselinks, what size is recommended to replace that with ?
and the large for fans/injectors at the battery..

Sorry for asking again, but I need to be 100% sure before I change the wires out etc.

Thanks for all your time !! :-)

Re: Use The Fuse

The only thing I wanna know is the exact AMP value of the stock fuse links.

the 2 on the starter to fusebox and igntionswitch and the one to the fans/injectors.

Ive looked at this page : http://wiki.xtronics.com/index.php/Wire-Gauge_Ampacity

But im not 100% sure what size FUSE (Exactly I should use)

I want the correct and proper size (matching the stock fuse link)

EDIT: hmm was reading this : http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/fuse...ing-94633.html
and a user called docvette didnt advice to replace the fuselinks with regular fuses. so I need to buy fuselinks and replace them that way instead then.. dont wanna burn something down or brea anything.... stupid fuse links..

god im splitted over this, I would really like having regular fuses instead of those hard to find/replace fuselinks.. My fuse link havent burned off, they are working but I dont feel 100% safe with them, they are old and im working on replacing all wires etc..

Fuses would be best, but I want an 100% correct value (AMP) of those fuses then, that matches the stock fuse link value..

did you ever figure out the amps?
