The shift light comes on in my gauge cluster and I have an automatic? Only when I am at at steady speed, if im not on it at all or giving it gas it is off. Anyone know how or if this can be fixed or even if its normal?

 

Just follow the steps said to remove it. That or black electrical tape over it for the time being

Hey thanks for the link. I may just take my cluster out at change some bulbs anyway because the right half of the cluster isnt lighting up besides that damn shift-up light!

 

Did your cluster get changed? There shouldn't have been a bulb installed for the shift indicator on an automatic. If the bulb is installed and you have an automatic, the shift light will come on whenever the overdrive kicks in. You might want to keep the light there and use it as an economy reminder, to let you know when the overdrive is on and you're getting better fuel economy.

why wouldnt you be able to tell you are in overdrive?
the difference in RPM should be enough for anyone who isnt blind AND deaf

 

I did take my cluster out one time because a few of the lights were not working. I could have put one of the bulbs back in the wrong spot? And it comes on no matter what gear it is in as long as I am just cruising
