HELP PLEASE with electrical problem
I am no good at electrical so hopefully somebody here can help. Every time I hit the brakes, the parking lights will go on, as well as the lights in the gauges, and also the radio turns on even when the keys are out. The radio will only work when the brake is pushed in as well. I re grounded the radio, but it still does the same thing. I am so close to finishing the car, so any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also there is a darker green wire by the radio I don't know what is, along with the orange/black wire attatched to the orange wire for power What are these?

.. Help !
Did you replace light bulbs recently?
Bulbs inserted incorrectly can cause those some of those problems.
You say youre close to finishing the car.
Did you do any rewiring?

Re: HELP PLEASE with electrical problem
I just got my car running too, and I'm having a simular problem. Every time I hit the brakes the running lights come on. Doesn't matter how the bulbs are installed - there getting power to them when they shouldn't seems to me...
I had the same experience years ago with a Dodge Charger I used to own. Turned out to be the turn signal switch was bad. That's where the connections are made..even when you're not using turn signals. I plan on replacing mine within the next coupla days, then I'll know for sure.
I can't explain the radio issue you're having though, unless you have your power wire going somewhere in your signal wiring...shouldn't be there anyways. Might want to find a better power source for it.

Re: HELP PLEASE with electrical problem
It is a long shot, but maybe there is metal of some sort that has dropped on top of the fuse panel? The key here is that the radio circuit is completely separate from the light circuits unless it has been tinkered with. There are a just a couple of screws holding the fuse panel to the instrument panel frame. It should drop down enough for inspection.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Tried replacing the headlight switch today but the same problem persisted. I cannot figure this out!

Re: HELP PLEASE with electrical problem
NINÅ says bulb installed incorrectly, (which I found out could be it also) but I've read that using a single filiment bulb in your brake lights or turn signals (which should be a two filiment bulb) can cause the same problem. I'm checking mine out today since my car just got painted at the body shop. Also I've read that a bad ground may cause it also....
I have the same issue minus the radio...I hit the brakes and my running and dash lights also come on. It didn't do that before the car was painted...

Re: HELP PLEASE with electrical problem
Well, I checked my tailight bulbs and sure enough, one brake light had a single filiment bulb in it where a two should've been. I replaced it and now the running lights don't turn on when I hit the brake anymore...but now my brake lights don't work while the running lights are on. Everything else is working...
