Powermaster 37802 (140 amp)
Ok, so I have been reading all the threads here on the powermaster 140 amp C130 case style and am going to buy one. Now here's the issue. My 1987 Camaro LT, V-8 is not serpentine and it's not the traditional V-belt set up but that one micro groove belt for the alt, water pump, and the crank. Would I be ordering the serpentine style alternator mentioned above? Or get the V-belt one and change the pully out from the old alternator?

I'm guessing that, what you are trying to say, is that you have the 1/2 serp 1/2 v belt system, where you have a vbelt to the power steering and a/c, and a serp belt to the waterpump and alternator - correct?

Re: Powermaster 37802 (140 amp)
Then it seems like the Powermaster 37802 is the one you'd want - it comes with the serp pulley on it. Just make sure your current alternator has mount holes at 12oclock and 6oclock like that Powermaster 37802 does, and you should be good.

Re: Powermaster 37802 (140 amp)
Got the alternator on Thursday and installed it on Friday. And there was no improvement on the voltage at all. I even checked with a voltmeter just to be sure. I used the same wiring since I have not recieved the new thicker wiring and ground wires. I'll see if there is any improvment once the new wires get installed.
The alternator does get very hot and I had to use the old pully from my old 100 amp since the serpentine pully was in no way compatible with the semi-serpentine set up 8 cylinder 87 F-bodies use.
On a good note, the alternator looks good.

Re: Powermaster 37802 (140 amp)
Got my new battery cables from Innovative Wiring the other day. Was only able to install the negative cable today since I wasn't in the mood to jack up the car and work in the heat today.
I did notice a difference on my voltmeter being more stable at idle and not going below 13 volts. But when I turned on the AC, put the car in drive, the volts continue to drop below 12 volts. Guess i'll really find out more when I throw on the positive.
Btw, the new battery cables are really thick compared to the old ones.

All cables are hooked up as they should be. I am taking out the Powermaster cs-133, 140 amp alternator and replacing it with a stock AC Delco unit. Going to put on the 105 amp unit. Not happy at all with how hot the Powermaster gets.

Re: Powermaster 37802 (140 amp)
sounds like you might have a bad body ground,
(ground wire from engine to car body) what would
cause the voltage drop when accesories are turned on.
Could just try running a new ground wire and see what
happens..
Yeah,CS 130s do run hot-the chrome finish will not
radiate heat well...

The ground wire from the right head to the firewall is still stock. Everything else is new. I saw a thread on here that had a place where they bought their ground strap wires but the company was out of stock. I am sure I can get that at some other place.
