89 camaro Rs Kill switch
Ive been having trouble doing thiis hopefully you guys can help me out.
Ive been looking for wiring diadrams to find which cable to cut so I can put a toggle switch in between so it wont start but no luck.
Which color cable do I cut under the steering column?
I already cut the pink, purple, black, and yellow and the car still turns on.
I did it on my 03 impala its was pretty simple but i cant do it on the camaro

Any help?

Re: 89 camaro Rs Kill switch
Being a 1989, your car already has VATS - without the cars key, no one can start the car anyway - the VATS disables the starter circuit as well as the fuel injectors. Even splicing the ignition wires under the column only enables the starter, but still no fuel unless VATS gets the resistor it's looking for.
So splicing in a disrupt switch into the ignition wires is kinda pointless.
However, splicing in a disrupt switch into the fuel system would be a benefit - even if 1) someone jumped ignition wires, and 2) someone used a bypass box to satisfy the VATS, they wouldn't get far without gas (maybe the end of the driveway).
Under the carpet, pass side, there are the wires running to the fuel pump - they exit the car just at the rear seats right at the beginning of the hump. You could splice into the fuel pump wire and put a disable switch there - that way regardless of the ECM, the fuel pump relay, or the oil pressure sending unit, the fuel pump function could be disabled.
Most comprehensive list of wiring diags I've come across is here - just about every diag there is for a 3rd gen http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19

Just keep cutting wires until you find one that works.
Seriously though, if you have no clue what you're doing, just stop where you're at and put things back together.

So you cut random wires until it doesnt crank anymore? Seriously?
And people wonder why I firmly believe there should be a license procedure to obtain wire cutters
There are NUMEROUS simple antitheft measures documented on this site and google. Pick one and use it. Stop this idiocy before your camaro becomes a parts car
FYI, so far you've only managed to disable your wipers and turn signals

Some people on this forum are just clueless. This thread is a good example. People like to splice switches into circuits with no thought to the current that will be flowing through that cheap POS switch.
