Re: still won;t crank

When you replaced the column, was there an orange looking wire that was really a sleeve with two skinny white wires inside and a plug at the end hanging out the bottom? That is the lead from the key cylinder that has to plugged into the plug for the VATS module or you get what you're getting. Should be a little plug with two wires, one white with black stripe and one purple with white stripe coming out of lower firewall around bottom of column. Plug these together and if all wiring is intact it should work now. If you have nothing to plug in there that's where you do the bypass. Do a search on here or check the technical articles section for details

Re: still won;t crank

If you replaced the steering column with a pre-1989 column, the ignition cylinder won't have VATS in it - so getting the right resistance key is no good since there would be no contacts in the key cylinder to read the pellet. Bypass instructions here: www.thirdgen.org/vats
