Oil Pressure guage always pegs until after the startup IIRC. Oil sender is either on china wall just to driver side of distributor, or is located just above oil filter. The unit on china wall usually just 1 wire connector, the unit above oil filter is a 3 wire connector.

Maybe the alternator is bad - just about any auto parts store will test charging system for free in the car.

Oil pressure should never peg unless its really that high. Flick the IGN on and see if the gauge still pegs. If it does, the sender is bad

The alt could be faulty. Test it before removing. Unplug the connector and use a multimeter/test light to see if there is 12v on the two wires. Big red is battery 12v, small brown is 12v IGN only. Ill bet you wont have any voltage on the brown wire with the swap and your fans wont work. 88's used C207 pin D for alt/fan fuse while 90-92 cars used C100 G8

i think the sending unit is bad it is the three wire by oil filter. as far as the alt goes i repinned the brown wire to go in the bulk head the way my tbi car did and ran the tan and white wire that was in the tbi harness back to the 207 pin D. still no charge the only differenc was the brown wire out of the tbi harness did not connect with any other wires the tpi harness does connect into the relays next 2 brake booster. so if i run the brown wire into the car to the 207 should it charge with no problems gonna mess with it mon. or tues. next day off

think my sender is bad it is the three wire by the oil filter. the charging issue not sure yet it is a little cofusing cause not sure if i should try to wire it the way my tbi was or try moving the brown wire from the alt to the 207 pin D gonna play with it monday or tuesday when i'm off work and see what i can figure

If the fuse is OK apply 12 volts directly to the fan.

Did it run?

If yes; ground the Coolant Temper Sensor located wire located at the top left front of the engine, sort of behind the AC compressor.

Did the fan run?

Happy Racing!
