Re: picture of fuse box
Those are not fuses. They are spots for extra harness' to plug into.
IGN would be for power with the ignition on. Something like a cruise control unit would plug in there for instance.
BAT is a hot all times location.
LPS is power when the light switch is on
Radio, not sure when that would give power or what it would specificaly be for.

Re: picture of fuse box
I just looked at the power antenna schematic. The "Radio" plug is where the power antenna motor gets it's power. It's fused through the "ACC" fuse.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hi, I just joined the site, and I'm not sure if this would be the right thread to ask a question.
I have a 85 Z28, with a 305 engine. Recently the horn stopped working. I think it's the fuse, so I looked under the seat at the fuse box.
Problem is, the letters are so faded on the box, not only can't I tell what type of fuse I should buy, I can't even tell which space is for the horn!
If anybody had any ideas that would be great. Thanks!

Carfully pull the horn button off and check the wire. There is a wire on the button and it goes to a plastic sleeve with a spring on it and it twists into the horn ring that is behind the wheel. Lot of times a small ear breaks off the part behind the wheel and it leaves nothing for the wire and sleeve to hook onto to hold it in place.
Also push the button and listen for a click. The horn relay is on the conveniece center under the dash about where your right knee would be while sitting in the car.
Re: picture of fuse box
The horn uses the coutsty fuse. If the interior lights still come on then thats nt the problem.

Thanks, I removed the button and had a look. Everything appears to be connected.
However, when I pushed the button I didn't hear a click.
When you say interior lights do you mean tha dashboard lights or overhead?
I notcied that the dashboard lights are very dim, ( the speedometer is almost completley out.)
Possible they are connected?

Re: picture of fuse box
The courtesy (saw the the spelling in my last post. I'm all thumbs when I type!) is for the horn, cigar lighter, dome and nay map lights, lights by your feet when you open the door, power antenna, you know the finer things in life.
The instrument fuse would be for dash lights.
That diagram shows fuse locations and the amperage. Not sure if its correct for a 85 though. You might try autozone.com in the repair section. They have had diagrams in the past there.
As for the horn, if any of those other things I mentioned earlier work then your fuse is good. It will send its power to the horn relay and from that the relay gets its ground from the horn button and send power to the horns. They ground by the bolt that holds then to the car.
At the horn relay, if you go to check there, terminal A is hot at all times. Terminal B is the ground when the horn button is pushed and terminal C is the wire that goes to the horns

Chhose the "body wiring continued" link - fuse panel in upper left corner.

Re: picture of fuse box
When you choose your car year from the above link, and get the wiring diag, click it, it enlarges.
