I replaced the element in my lighter so it would work, but now whenever I put it in, the fuse blows. I've never had this problem before. The outlet always worked. Is the lighter supposed to pop out when its hot??

 

i was havin the same issue. i guess its a common thing for the light housing to short out. i got a replacement one from the auto parts store and wired it up seperetly now it works fine.

 

What do you mean by wired it separately ?

 

Yes, lighter supposed to "pop" when hot - if it doesn't, then the lighter or the housing are bad.

 

Same problem started to happen with mine. Its the outlet it self shorting out. I pulled mine out and the bottom of it I believe there was a tab that was bent and touching other metal causing the short. And I believe Intimidator ment he wired it to its own "circuit" so if it shorts out again, it won't blow the ACC circuit.

 

it a common issue. mine blows anytime i push the cig lighter in, but the outlet works fine for plugging in a phone charger or gps or something like that. good thing i dont smoke

 

i mean i ran mine own seperate fused power and a ground to a new lighter socket.
