No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
A few weeks ago I plugged my phone charger in and blew the 20A Acc fuse, I replaced the fuse and life was good. The other day it did it again, this time teh fuse was good. I pulled the fuse block down and the wires are good (white wire from fuse). I have looked all over and can't seem to find a drawing that shows where these wires go. Does anyone have a link that will show how the wiring goes and if there is a relay anywhere in this loop. Thanks

Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
Check the fuse thats on the left at the very bottom, hazzards IIRC. Pulled mine out today and the lights went out, don't know why, worth a shot though. Check all the fuses while you're there just to be sure.
Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
your horn probably doesnt work either, thats the accessory fuse at the least, usually the cigarette lighter shorts it out. 20 amp fuse in the middle of the panel.
Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
Thanks for the ideas, all fuses have been checked, OK. Horn doesn't work so I am looking for the first connector or first junction spot after the fuse block to begin testing, Not seeing any indication of this in the schematics that 1Adan sent me. any ideas of the path (location) that the wire takes.
Is the hatch release in this same circuit or do I have 2 problems?

my horn wont work either, I am going to check the relay and see if I can loop connections to test and see if relay is faulty, the horn has never worked since I bought the car and as I will soon be returning her to the tarmac for trips to the mechanic and paint shop I figured it would be nice to have a working hooter

I had a similar problem in my car ( dome light, lighter, power lock, and mirrors didnt work) it ended up being the wires to my lighter were pinched and grounding out under the center console. repaired it and it all works great now.

Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
dont forget , some cars have another fuse in the fusebox called arc.
Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
Well
finally found the cause, it was a different fuse, one that was labeled something completely different, not sure what PO did, but I was looking at the fust that I was blowing previously, not a new one, (stupid me), replaced the fuse (20 A) and everythign works now. Seems like a lot of stuff on that fuse though, hatch release, horn, door locks, interior lights, radio. Need to look further to see what is going on, Thanks to all the suggestions.

Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
If other thingsare working that are on fuse #11 20AMP that the horn is tied into and not the horn check your contacts in the steering wheel. My 91 Firebird has the airbag steering wheel. I belive your 91 does also. On my car I found that the contact that lies under the rubber/viynal horn button was missing on one side and busted up on the other. the white hard foam frame the airbag cover is streatched over dosen't allow for much give when you press the horn symbol on the steering wheel peel the horn symbol back and then press the square under it to see if it will depress and make contact. These airbag steering wheels horn buttons are a problem I've heard.

Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
I have the same problem with the dome light, hatch release, and horn not working on my '86 Z28 IROC. They all worked initially, but seemed to just randomly stop working one day. Mechanic fixed them when I got it inspected, but they went out again a few weeks later. Neither the horn nor cigarette lighter work either, but they haven't for the time I've owned the car.

Using a small bulb or meter, probe both sides of the ACC fuse.

Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
I had the same issue on my 1991 GTA. The 12 volt power plug in the center console shorted out. Take off your shift plate, unplug the power lines to the 12 volt power plug. Use an voltage meter to see if the positive and negative connections on the power port are shorted.
Re: No cig lighter, radio, dome light, hatch release
Can you tell me where the other fuse box might be located, the arc one? That might help...I have an 85 sport camaro, 305 auto. Still looking for a diagram with a fuse box like mine..I seem to have only a few fuses....and no 3 am one for the battery...hmmm....still looking things up! I have no radio, lower int. lights or dome or lighter. Have not tried the horn...gads, better do that! All else seems to work...any clues before i have to take it into a shop? I have checked fuses, but they all seem fine...
thanks!
Vicki
