Is this a starter problem or alternator

88GTA

As of late I have notice if I drive a bit say 10plus minutes and stop the car the engine will not crank. I can hear the starter clicking and get a few attempts of the car tring to start real sluggishly but does not go all the way.

If I let it sit say 15 to 30 minutes I can get it started but it starts sluggishly for a few secounds then powers up.

If I lets it set a few hours It starts fine even though after a few key turn attempts i get the starter clicking a few times then fires up.

And recently the passenger side headlight has gone dim, dont know if the 2 are connected just yet.

sounds like youre starter is either going out, or becoming susceptible to heat soak, and your headlight is going out. 2 separate issues.

Just wanting to make sure the two werent a sign of anything. Figured it was the starter but wanted to make sure before I proceded to try and finagle the old one out.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Is this a starter problem or alternator

go with an LT1 starter. its a direct bolt in and smaller so its less likely to fail due to heat soak.
