So I am trying to install my aftermarket tachometer but somehow I am getting something wrong and it will not turn on. So does anyone have any special places where I can connect the power cable, ground, and switch cable? and I am also uploading a pic of my distributor cap but I am not sure into which on to tap into, PLEASE HELP...

Re: PLEASE HELP ME WIRE AFTERMARKET TACHOMETER!
The terminal for the TACH output right on the coil you took a picture of.
Most generic tach wiring, Red +12v switched, black ground, white TACH, green illumination.
I guess literacy isn't for everyone. Nina asked what brand tach you have and you just complain instead of providing any relevant information for someone to help.
Clearly you have an Accel supercoil which, you can find install instructions online for.
If you know the brand of tachometer, you could put some effort into finding install instructions for it too. A bit of reading and you could solve your own problem.
I agree with joe, too. Scotchlocks can burn in hell.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME WIRE AFTERMARKET TACHOMETER!
Your tachometer should have four wires.
1. +12 volts (switched) - Connect this wire where it will get +12 volts when the key is ON.
2. Ground -Connect this wire to -12 volts (negative side of the battery). A metal bracket under the dash will do.
3. Ignition signal - Connect this wire to the wire with the brown connector at the distributor (in your photo).
4. Illumination - connect this wire to someplace that get's +12 volts when the headlights are on. OR you can connect it to the same place that the +12 volt wire is connected to (the light will be on all the time.
You'll need the installation instructions to the aftermarket tach to be able to tell which wires are which.

Re: PLEASE HELP ME WIRE AFTERMARKET TACHOMETER!
A few years ago I went thru some problems of my own with a Tach and I documented it here in a thread for future thirdgen owners. Give it a try and see if it helps you out.

AND if it works out well for you, then PAY IT FORWARD by doing something to your car, figuring something out that isn't on the board, DOCUMENTING it and sharing it with the wonderful people here on THIRDGEN.ORG
Thanks!

Wire for lights-run to fuse panel for dash lights, tach feed- i hooked mine to the white wire under the dash for the stock tach since it probley doesnt work anyways, ground and hot wire is pretty easy to figure out
