Re: Sequential Turn Signals - batch 7
BTW these instructions are deceiving, I'm on the under dash mod and idk if I have it right, am I supposed to be splicing the blue and white together just bridging the circuits or am I supposed to be connecting the brake wire leading to the lights (not the switch side) to the white wire?

Re: Sequential Turn Signals - batch 7
I like the hot glue idea its actually pretty smart, e-tape could break down but unless somone deliberately cuts up the glue the board is safe lol i sent you a pm prematurely asking the same question, my tail lights are identical to yours i believe you were my inspiration for it actually lol if i could get the 194 to light up while still being a functional running light i would be happy with it lol i thought of swapping out the socket also but idk if i wannt cut up the frame to do that lol would it be possible to put a resistor in line and trick the circuit to accept the 5v bulb?
i think ill attempt to wire it up as it is, should i cut the + to the 194 and just run it to the unit or should i simply tap into the + on the 194 and run it to the unit with a diode?

Not sure what you mean by a 5V bulb, all bulbs on cars nowadays are rated for 12V.
I wouldn't hack the 194, as per your PM earlier. I would leave it in. And as I mentioned, I would add an extra socket with an extra bulb. The one worry I have is that if the bulb is too big, it will be too close to the lense and might melt it.
Sorry about the vague instructions, I will amend them.
You need the blue wire that you already cut off (as far away from the switch as possible) and you will splice it somehow into the white wire. I said "connect" in my instruction because the method is your choice. You can put a little male/female connector there, you can solder it, you can put a clamp on it, your call.
Call me if you have more questions.

Now you are.
I am trying to set up a Google Store with Google Checkout and it is taking more time than I expected.
If anybody wants to either mail a Money Order or can do a direct transfer GIFT payment via PayPal, PM me for details because I now have plenty of units pre-made and ready to go.

David, your payment arrived tonight.
I will deposit it first thing in the morning and catch the mailman to drop off your unit with him.
I have an STS unit on my own Mustang.
So your Mustang buddy is sure welcome to buy one.
Oh, was that supposed to be a secret? OOPS!

Re: Sequential Turn Signals - batch 7
What does your repair manual say? The brake switch is right on the brake bracket and has usually 3 wires.
My only 1982 diagram (not even sure if it's a Berlinetta or which model) shows only two wires: orange and white. That system, though is only for vehicles with integrated rear turn signals and brake lights. Berliettas don't have that, so my diagram must be for a 'Bird.
I'll give you a call in a minute. You might want to edit your post and remove your number to prevent spambots from collecting it.

1982 Berlinetta? Now that will be harder, I do not have any diagrams for that car, sorry.

Hey, BBL. I added a center taillight which lights up as a brake light and the wings work as directionals. Would this still work if I installed your STS?

Re: Sequential Turn Signals - batch 7
So the wings are connected to the turn signals and flash with the red bulbs? You can keep that functionality, I don't think it will visually disturb it. It will work with my unit, no problem.

Mine was a little different to instal cause the wiring diagram wasn't right. But once i talked to Lou about it it was fairly easy. A few splices and some crimps and you're good to go

After some trial and error with adjusting the mechanical flasher, I accidentally broke it. but now i have the electronic flasher and everything is working perfectly for me. Thanks a lot Lou for the product and some beyond superior support on this!

Yes. I just added 2 dual filament sockets and tied 1 of them into the center brake/directional sockets for each side. They're brake lights and also flash for directional. So I'm thinking the wing will light up at the same time as the center sockets with the STS. Great. Put me down for one. I have paypal.

Well I haven't been in there for a while but I believe I now have 4 per side. It causes my directionals to flash fast but I plan on replacing the bat sockets with LEDs. That should solve the flashing problem. I will send it paypal as soon as I get your message.

Got it.
I am holding your unit in my hands right now, I am testing it before I ship it in the morning.
Thanks for the payment that went without a glitch.
Looking forward to seeing your bat flash! You can let it flash with the first (innermost bulb). If you use an LED, it will light up faster and look like another stage of the sequence.

Yup, they do make LEDs with the 1157 sockets on them. They are not cheap (when WERE LEDs cheap?
) but they might be worth it.

Wow, that is unbelieveably cheap. They used to cost $60 a year or two ago and they cost $45 last time I checked. $12 is a very reasonable price, I am happy to hear that.

Which ones would look best in our taillights? Obviously the "spider" style lights won't fit into the light housing. I'd prefer to keep the illumination looking right. Not just one bright bulb in the middle. I was looking at the P/N: 1157-x1W-G: 1 Watt High Power LED BAY15D Bulb with Stock Cover. Is that a good choice?

Wasn't sure which would be best for my center light so I ordered the 19 and the 30 in the 100 degree angle. Last edited by 1988GTA500HP; Jul 23, 2012 at 05:50 AM.

It's direct plug in made by Dorman, it plugged in no problem and fit in the original holding spot too ( behind the choke light which seemed odd) . I believe the part number was 552 which is the dual pin and 550 was for the tri pin. I may have those swapped though

Great, thank you so much for the information. Hopefully it will help others who need an adjustable flasher. This is so much cheaper than it used to be. And I spent countless hours making mine.
