need help removing vats from prom

Dont be too harsh, I'm the new guy and I'm hoping this is in the right place. I've got a 91 rs with a 3.1 m/t and the previous owner said there was something wrong with the electrical so she cut and spliced every imaginable thing that has to do with the vats. She tried to put resistors in to bypass the key. Needless to say Im not exactly sure what all has been "fixed" but Im tired of trying to figure out what SHE did. The fuel pump comes on, the car turns over and Its firing, its just not getting fuel. The security light is weird, if i go out there after leaving it alone for 5 minutes the security light never comes on, but if i turn the key off and right back on the light comes on and stays on until i turn it off and wait 5 more minutes. So my only solution that i can think of is getting all of the security stuff burnt out of the chip so I can get some fuel thru the injectors. Again I'm new to this car and I hope somebody will be able to help me. Thanks

Wire this to the computer and forget about VATS
http://www.bakerelectronix.com/products_vats/
Supplies the fuel enable signal to the computer that the VATS module is supposed to do ( if it reads the key correctly )

Or have a online tuner like PCMforless burn a new prom with VATS deleted
http://pcmforless.com/index.php?opti...=109&Itemid=29

VATS also takes out the starter but because you say your engine cranks over it must already be bypassed

Re: need help removing vats from prom

i contacted pcmforless and the only vats delete chip they offer is for a v8, they said it wasnt compatible with my tpi 3.1.

As for as the product from Baker Electronix, I already have a similar chip and it still isnt sending any signal to the injectors.

This is the vats delete chip that i have. The instructions arent great and technical support is even worse, but I'm sure it is installed properly.

Is there anybody that has the software to delete the vats out of the chip I have?

No body bothers to reburn stock chips anymore: problematic and time consuming
Most use freely available tuning software with a chip burner in order to burn a new tune on a reprogrammable EPROM ( chip )

I took my fluke meter and got the ohm value from the pellet in my ignition key and went to radio shak and got a resistor of the same value. I then put it in the harness connector in the column (small orange and white wire) un-plug the black connector and put the resistor in the plug and tape it up good and you should be fine.

I have the wiring diagram for my car and I'm sure its wired properly, I just dont know if my specific ship will work for v8 cars only. Again the instructions aren't great and i can't call them to ask.

Unfortunately the last owner tried that along with a handful of other "fixes" now i dont know what has to been done or what needs to be done. The key is already bypassed along with the starter relay, and I'm sure some other stuff that I havent found yet.
