Choke Problem
Please help,
I have a 87 with a 305 and its automatic. I changed my starter and now my choke won't work? I have 14 volts at the carb when the wire is disconnected. If I run a jumper wire from the battery the choke works no problem. When I plug the wire onto the thermosat it goes from 14v to .4? What would cause this? Also the choke light is on dim when the key is on acc. and when the car is running it is bright with no alarm sounding. If I unplug the wire at the carb it turns the coke light off?

Chock Full Of Chokes
A lit choke light is consistent with a bad connection to the choke heater.
The voltage dropping from 14.0 to 0.4 is consistent with a bad connection from that wire to the choke relay.
You might have a bad relay.
You can jump the main terminals to verify.
Also make sure the FAN fuse is good.
This time of year in Eastern Pennsylvania the fan might not be needed therefore a bad FAN fuse might not be noticed.
Yes it should.
That is normal.

Re: Chock Full Of Chokes
Thanks I did jump the relay yesterday and it fixed it. I was surprised from everyone else's posts to find the relay next to the battery on the inner fender next to the battery.
Thanks for your help
