Hazards work, turn signals don't

My turn signals do not work however if I turn the blinkers on they work fine. I tried replacing the turn signal flasher with a new 552 replacement flasher and still nothing. The switch seems to be in ok shape as it clicks into place without being forced. The fuse is fine also.

What should I check next?
Thanks guys

I believe the hazards and turn signals use separate flasher units. You probably changed the flasher for the hazards.

My memory has faded a lot, but IIRC the flasher for the turn signals is mounted by itself to a clip attached to one of the dashboard brackets. The flasher for the hazards is mounted to panel under the dash.

It was definitely the turn signal flasher i changed as it was on the column. The hazard flasher is next to the center console.

The only other thing I can think it could be is the turn signal switch itself. It would be best to consult a wiring diagram at this point.

Is the fuse good?
Is the ignition on?
Do you have power at the flasher itself?

The ignition is on as well
I am not seeing any power at the flasher, even when i turn on the directional. The flasher wire looks like it runs into the ECM so i couldnt track down what was causing the lack of power.

Do your back up lamps work?
Do you have power on both sides of the fuse? The fuse or contact might be bad even though they passed a visual check. You can also try swapping two fuses of the same rating.
If you have power exiting the fuse but not getting to the flasher, I would probe the dark blue wire at the flasher and the fuse. There must be a break in the wire. No worries, the dark blue wire (or the purple) does not go to the ECM. That is a completely separate system.

The back up lamps dont work either.

I ran 12 volts to the wire that runs into the distributor cap for the ignition. As soona s i did the blinkers started working. Obviously this isnt a solution but i may shed some light on whats causing the issue. i also think i have a VATS malfunction, as the car will not turn over anymore. Whe i turn the key i dont get 12 volts to the purple wire on the starter.

I had the same problem, gages wouldnt work either. I chased wiring diagrams, tore the dash apart, I was at my wits end. My problem was I did a visual check of the fuse. I pulled it and looked at it. Not melted, could clearly see the contact was complete across both blades. New fuse and voila! I coulda kicked myself in the ****.
