Re: internal leak in distributor

If your distributor bushings are severely worn you will get oil inside the distributor cap.

Re: internal leak in distributor

the easiest way to find a hard to locate oil leak is clean the engine real well and buy oil dye and use a chap black light to find the source. If you do need a new dizzy dont get a cheap chinese one off ebay cardone are decent but I trust the gm icms not aftermarkets.

Re: internal leak in distributor

It could be coming from your oil pressure switch as well.

Re: internal leak in distributor

oil leak found! It took me about an hour and a drive around the block to find the oil leak. It does not leak right away but after a while oil will start spraying out of the plug for the oil pressure sensor don't ask me why it takes so long to leak but it does lol. The oil sprays out good enough to reach the dizzy and make it look like that's the problem. I can't believe I changed my intake gasket for nothing but at least I polished everything while it was off.

yea That's what in the hole for the oil pressure sender not sure if that's the original plug or not. It does not leak all the time just when I am getting on the gas.

Re: internal leak in distributor

Get a longer plug from the hardware store and wrap it well in teflon, four or five layers. Because that is a tapered fitting, a bolt will not work to plug it unless you had the ability to make one with pipe threads on a lathe.
