86 firebird power hatch release wiring
I got a power solenoid, switch and relay for my 86 t/a.
From searching, most threads say the wiring wor the switch and relay should be there.
I found the plug for the relay and plugged it in.
I tore the dash apart on the drivers side and cant find any way to plug in the switch. There is a short wire harness that plugs into the hatch defroster switch, and where that plugs into the dash it looks like there are extra wires on the dash side of that connector.
Wondering it i possibly have to get a sub harness from a car that has a defroster and power trunk, and that would have plugs for both the defroster and the hatch switch.
To be honest, I don't even care about the defroster, its a summer car anyways.
If I could reroute some of the wires to make the hatch release work, I'd be fine with that.

One of the switch connectors tucked behind the dash should be for the hatch release. There should be a spare wire in the trunk ready to connect to the solenoid. I found the relay the hardest part. Do you have wiring diagrams? If so look for the right wire color or just try them and see if one works.

I looked all over under the dash and couldn't find the connector.
I have a factory service manual, guess I'll have to see what color wires I should be looking for.

When you take off the narrow center switch panel there should be four or five switch connectors tucked in behind. On mine the hatch release was over on the right. I already had a fog light switch only so got a panel with two swich openings. But the connector should be there.

When you remove the switch panel there should be four (or is it five? it's been a while) switch connectors. What do you have?

The only connectors i see there is the one that plugs into the defroster switch.
That is a small harness that connects to the defroster switch and then runs about a foot and a half across the dash and then plugs into a plug on the dash. That looks like it has extra terminals on it like maybe I need a different harness that has the multiple plugs for the defroster and trunk switch.

Can't quite visualize what you're describing. Can you post a pic? The switch connectors are behind the center switch panel.
