starter relay?
Ok this post will be couple long.
Ok so I came out to start my car, was running fine...Nothing no click, nothing. Everything powered up as suck, but wouldn't start.
Now I've searched here, found only bits and pieces of what to do. But now I'm scratching my head.
So the first two pics, which one is the the starter relay?
First pic is up towards the top under the dash near the kick panel.
Second is at the bottom behind the kick panel.

Re: starter relay?
In the previous post, the upper relay, none of those wires have power. Now according to my haynes manual, there is not even suppose to be a starter relay? However I do not know where all those wires go.
These pics here are of all the attachment blocks on the steering column. My main question is, which connector and wire is suppose to energize the starter circuit?
What wire is suppose to do what? What wires should be checked?

Off of that relay is the wiring and as far as I have checked. There is no power, run or start and all I don't know is where are the wires suppose to run too?
where do those wires route to? I have gone as far as tracking them past the steering column in the wire looming..
Does any wires actually connect to the Key switch itself, or is the activator at the bottom of the rod that moves when I move the switch.
I'm at my wits end, and I have no clue what is going on, or failing to go on. I really could use dome help.

Re: starter relay?
The wiring comes from the Ign switch

Re: starter relay?
As far as vats, I honestly wouldn't know what I was looking for as an indication of that being in the car. A window sticker says its there, but the key doesn't have the chip in it.
If there is a specific indicator as to a vats system, It would be helpful to know.
As far as the yellow wire that goes from the column switch, there is no power being sent reguardless of switch location, off, run or start. That much I figured out.
I could be mistaken here....There is smaller wire towards the bottom of the switch, that carries power when in run. This wire dims when I put the key in start.
I'll recheck everything once I get off work...Midnights suck and my memory doesn't function so well during the day. lol
Thanks for the links those I missed and are very helpful. I love this car and don't wanna scrap/trade it because of a glitch.

Re: starter relay?
Maybe the switch is faulty , maybe it is out of adjustment and not moving to the start position.
Loosen the screws and move it up the column and see if that does anything useful

Re: starter relay?
The ign switch was the issue.I took it off, tore it apart cleaned everything, tested it and put it back on.
These are easily rebuildable units. took a total of about 40 min, pliers, flat head, sand paper and rubbing alcohol.
I do thank anyone who gave any info on diagnosing this issue.
