This isn't an engine swap question. I already have reviewed and looked over that forum and know what else I need to accomplish. This is solely, what differences/problems am I going to run into with trying to take an 87' 305 tpi harness and computer and try to put it in an 89' v6 car.. I was going to keep the v6 harness in the car and just hardwire a 350 in around it. But the opportunity for a 305 tpi harness and motor have kinda fallen in my lap. if this will be easier and cheaper, I will go this route. But I don't want to be cutting,splicing, and putting new connectors on wires.. I want to plug and play. Where there differences between these years and harnesses that wont permit such an easy use? Such as wipers,headlights, main firewall connection below master cylinder? I appreciate input and knowledge if anyone has already tried this. Thank you

 

87 harness into an 89 car does not = Plug-&-Play.

You can get the schematics for the C100 connector ( Dash-to-Engine ) and the C207 connector ( Dash-to-ECM ) harnesses from these 2 links. Print out both the 87 and the 89 schematics and start working thru each and every wire to see what matches up and what doesn't.

Off the top of my head; The 87 & the 88 wiper and injector wiring is not compatible and needs to be 'fixed'.

* 87 has Wiper wiring in Engine harness..... 89 has the Wiper wiring in the Headlight harness.

* 87 Injector wiring is connected @ plug C221,... 89 doesn't have a C221 plug. ( C221is also shown in links provided. )




Expect some re-wiring in order to get this combination of parts to work together.......
