vats bypass not working!!! please help me!!!

I got a 91 RS and it wont start. The vats was previously bypassed. Then today I swapped out columns to another 91 column because mine was broke. I hit the key and it started with the old bypass. For s&g I plugged in the vats wire, hit the key again, and it started. Continued on to hooking up the steering shaft and installing steering wheel. Went to hit the key and it doesnt crank. Security light stays on. So I ran the new key it comes up 1467 so I got a 1500 resistor pellet hooked it up... nothing changed.. wtf am I doing wrong!?!?!?

Your new key needs your old resistor pellet values. If you want to bypass the VATS with a resistor, you need the resistor that matches your VATS module not the column. You had it bypassed correctly with the "old bypass". HTH!

I was under the impression that the vats module was IN the column. Was I misinformed?

Yes. The module is under your dash, that is why you bypass VATS by jumping the connector going back into the dash and NOT the column side.

How do I hook up a baker electronix bypass module on my 93 Camaro z28? Am I suppose to hook it up to the wires running from the steering wheel column under the dashboard? I'm totally lost

This is what the wires coming down the column off of the key lock looks like.

It looks like that module actually replaced the VATS unit. It has a power, ground and signal wire. The old signal wire that goes from the VATS unit to the ECM would be replaced with the signal wire on the new Baker module. What wire that is, I can't tell you for a 93 since that is a 4th gen.
