Updated wiper issue- stalk is very sensitive.

So yea, when I use the turn signal it turns on wipers...it's one of the quirky little issues that I have. Would this be the multi-function switch?

My Dad replaced the steering column at some point, as it had been busted open years ago when it was stolen. He might have mis-connected something. I have other issues like no power to the passenger door, washer fluid motor doesn't work, no door chime, etc...

Try stalk, ebay $15.99 .... search Camaro turn signal stalk.

Fixed my cruise control, metal rod in center gets rusty, looses ground. May fix your washer fluid thing too.

Easy to install, pull old - (pull hard, pops out), fish thru column, plugs in.

Re: using the turn signal turns on wipers

Thanks for the reply... I'm a little confused though. I pulled the stalk out, but no wires to fish through, it's just a metal rod, looks clean and in good shape. Not doubting you, but you think replacing it will really help?

Sounds to me like you need to replace your multifunction switch.

Yep, should be a cable/wire with a plug on the end ... wire probably operated wipers & cruz ... There should be a white plug down above the break pedal that accepts the stalk plug.

I pulled the stalk from the column again, and realized that the wipers go on at the slightest touch of the stalk... they even go on if I touch the base of the column where the stalk goes in! (see photo)... what would cause this?

Stalk is ground operated, your body is acting as the ground when you touch it ? Just a hypo theory ?? As I said above my stalk metal rod was rusty, new one made everything work. Or you could have a broken wire in there.

Your car probably doesn't have cruise control. That's what the harness on the stalk is for, nothing else. The switch/wires for the wipers is on the column.
The stalk acts as a **** of sorts for the wiper control, but the actual switch is in the column.Sounds like you're grounding something when you touch the stalk.
Your hi-beam is also incorporated into the switch, again the stalk is just a way to reach in & activate the hi-beams.

Yea, no cruise control. Hi beams work fine... I see where the wire harness is now. When I can, I'll take a better look at the wires and see if one is broken or something.
