LED flasher question

This question is for all who have replaced their bulbs with LEDs. I know I need a new flasher for the turn signals, front and rear, to work. My question is which do I need and how many? I see 2 pin...3 pin etc. Can anyone elaborate on which pin kind i need and how many for front and rear turns? Thanks!

Re: LED flasher question

You need whatever the stock flasher uses, 2 pin I believe.I tried one when I switched to LEDs."Keep it Clean" i think is the name.Didnt help though.

Ended up wiring up a relay. One per lamp, so four, front only.I posted a thread way back.

Re: LED flasher question

The 2 flashers aren't "front and rear".

One is for the hazards, and one is for the turn signals.

If memory serves, they come as 2-pin in our cars; input, and output, so to speak. Seems like a lot of the ones for LEDs add a 3rd pin (gnd).

Affirmative! You need two 2-pin LED flashers.

I ordered this one for my Firebird: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...asher/779/833/ This one would be a simple drop in.

(however, they sent me the 3 pin version by accident. Works just as fine but I had to solder a little harness. 3rd pin is not needed on our cars.)

Re: LED flasher question

Just one more thing: most LED flashers are totally silent, which is awkward at first. You might want to consider that...

He could tap off the new flasher and tie in to the Chimer, this way he will hear the flasher

Re: LED flasher question

Weird, last week I bought the 2 pin flasher linked in the post, but I still get all blinkers not flashing. Maybe flasher designs have changed over the past several years since this thread. So I guess I need something else.

Re: LED flasher question

We have been selling the United Pacific led flashers for several years and they have worked well. They still make a clicking noise unlike a lot of other led flashers. These also have a ground wire which seems to make them more consistent and work better. Price includes two which is everything you need for one car.

Unfortunately we're only open Monday thru Friday. Sometimes I'm here on Saturdays but call before coming by (817-751-9030). If I'm here I'm happy to help you out.

Re: LED flasher question

scfbody - It doesn't appear there's enough room to plug in the hazard relay due to some metal brace in the way.

It's a tight fit but will go in there. On the first one I installed I notched the metal brace but I've done several here at work including a low mile 1992 Z28 and didn't make a notch or other modifications. There is a panel that swings down, with the door down completely the flasher will go in.
