Howdy everybody so I have search and searched and can not find the answer to my question.....
Why do some Z28's have fog lamps on with parking lamps only?

My fog lamps only come on when the headlamps are on, but it would be nice to have the fog lamps on with only the parking lamps. Do I need to rewire the fog lamps ?

Some info from Jim85IROC that you may find interesting:

From 86-on, your fog lights would work with your parking lights on and when your low beams are on. As you learned, they won't work with high beams.

BUT... in 85, in addition to many other one-year-only peculiarities, the fog lights would come on ONLY with the low beams. With just your parking lamps on, the fog lights will not come on.

Thanks for the info James. Must be people rewired the fog lamps to be on without head lamps, as I have seen several pics of third Gen's "posing" with fog lamps on without head lamps.

 

My GTA foglights only come on when the parking lights are on and go off when I turn the headlights on

I dont know if thats a camaro vs. trans am thing or not

 

Mine will work with parking lights, stay on with head lights, and go off with high beam. Normal for 88 GTA.

 

This is how the ones in my '88 T/A are too.

 

I moved my car today and tried the lights, turns out my high beams are on and my switch is broke so thats probably why my fog lights were going off the other day

 

That will do it. I bumped my high beams on wrestling the instrument cluster trim back into place. Didn't realize it, and when I went to test all of the switches mounted on that trim after installation, I thought I'd done something wrong as the fog lamps wouldn't come on. Didn't occur to me until several hours later what had likely happened.
