What connector is this?

1985 Trans Am, the connector comes out below the steering column and appears to go up over the column on the left side. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Hi Shane ,

I'm not 100% certain , but , the colors on those wires look a lot like the listed wires for the cruise control on your wiring diagram (1985 T/A) .

I will enclose your wiring diagram , the detail you seek is at the bottom right hand side of the page (click twice on the image to see it in full size) .

Re: What connector is this?

That's the cruise control connector. It comes in through the firewall with a vacuum line. The hole they come through is lateral to the accelerator cable and steering column. The interior side connector does indeed join up with the interior wire harness and go to an ecm. That ecm is connected up towards the windshield attached to the back of a duct. The cruise ecm is a small aluminum case. If you don't want or need cruise you can just leave it.

If you don't want cruise then you could also use it to control something.... The cruise switches could just become an on/off switch for whatever.
